Step #2 – School Submits Project Proposal to Health District

When ready, the school submits plans and specifications to the health district for review. For large projects (e.g., new school building, addition, remodel, renovation, relocation), submit plans when they are at 50% completion (preliminary plans).  A final set of plans (the permit set) will also be required during the review process. Submit plans for smaller projects (e.g., modular classrooms, ventilation or lighting upgrades) when they are at 90% - 100% completion.

Submittals should include:

  • School construction submittal form
  • School construction plans
  • School construction specification books

Submittal documents and more detailed information can be found here.

When submitting preliminary (50%) plans, submit one set of paper drawings and specification books.  When submitting final plans (100% plans – the permit set), submit one set of paper drawings along with complete electronic plans and specification books (via email or thumb drive). The electronic and paper copies must include the same information; if there are differences they must be itemized.

IMPORTANT NOTE: it is the school’s responsibility to submit plans. The building department DOES NOT automatically forward plans to the health district.
