Babies are constantly learning through experiences and challenges. The same is true for their immune systems. Their immune system is amazing at learning to identify and fight off most germs that cause problems. However, just like a baby wouldn’t be able to solve an algebra problem, their immune systems aren’t ready to handle some of the more serious diseases. This is why it’s so important to train their immune system with vaccines.

Bloomsday is just around the corner! Whether you're a seasoned Bloomie or this is your first time participating, it's always good to brush up on a few health and safety tips so you can perform your best and avoid issues on the course. National Public Health Week 2023 is April 3-9! SRHD will be celebrating by focusing on the ways that different types of communities in our region support, promote, and protect health. Our theme for this year is “For the Love of Community.” Whether a community is based on ethnicity, interest, faith, location, or something else, it can provide support and well-being to its members. Here are some ways to join us in celebrating for the love of community!

The Biden Administration has announced that the U.S. federal public health emergency will end on May 11, 2023. This will cause some changes for people, depending on things like demographics, what industry they work in, or what type of insurance they have. It can all get very confusing, so we are going to try to share some changes you might be concerned about in a way that we hope is helpful.

This past week we observed National Caregiver's Day! Caregivers support our community by caring for those who may need extra assistance or help maintaining their physical well-being or completing their day-to-day activities—like the elderly, the disabled, the sick, or young children. It's a role that can, unfortunately, go unrecognized. That's why we want to offer a big "thank you!" to those who provide care for others.
