Join Us for National Public Health Week! (April 7-13)

April 07, 2025

SRHD is celebrating National Public Health Week this week! This year’s theme, “Public Health Starts Here,” is all about recognizing how we each play a role in keeping our communities healthy.

Public health isn’t just about policies and programs—it’s about the people behind them. The team at SRHD doesn’t just work in Spokane; they live here too. They’re your neighbors, friends, and family members, all working together to make Spokane a healthier place for everyone. Throughout the week, we will share stories and insights across social media to highlight how the people in our programs improve community well-being.

This week, look out for our weekly Facebook Live on Wednesday, at 10 a.m., where Health Officer Dr. Francisco Velázquez will sit down with Administrative Officer Dr. Alicia Thompson to discuss why local public health efforts matter and how they directly impact the Spokane community.

If you’re downtown, you’ll also notice Spokane lighting up in blue all week long! SRHD and community partners are setting up banners and blue lights to show their commitment to public health.

We want everybody in our community to join us, because when it comes to building a healthier community, it all starts here.
