  • Want to know more about tobacco companies and how they target young people? University of California, San Francisco’s Smoking Cessation Leadership Center offers a free webinar called Bambi Meets Godzilla: Addressing Young Adult Tobacco Use. Watch the webinar to learn tobacco company tactics for youth marketing and challenges impacting tobacco prevention and cessation efforts among young people.
  • Looking to learn more about talking to young people about substance use? Check out starttalkingnow.org for more information. Consider using the Parent Talk kit for tips.
  • Did you know that the Washington Poison Center offers resources to help protect children from accessing marijuana? The Not for Kids warning symbol is required on all edible marijuana products. Retailers can also purchase more stickers to give out at point of sale and these stickers are also available to the public.
  • Washington State has a Recovery Help Line (1-866-789-1511) available 24-hours a day. The hotline is a free resource for those struggling with issues related to mental health, substance abuse and problem gambling. Another resource is a teen-answered hotline called Teen Link (1-866-TEENLINK) available every evening from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. (PST). Teens can call and get support from trained volunteers about a variety of issues.
