An 11-member committee assists in the development of policies and procedures, including inspection frequency/content. The also help determine costs and make training and compliance recommendations, as well as assist in the development of educational materials. Representatives from local schools and the community serve on the advisory committee act as liaisons between health district and school community.
Each year the health district looks for members to serve on its School Advisory Committee. Openings on the 11-member committee vary each year based on which existing committee members fulfilled their terms. Committee members serve two-year terms and attend four meetings per year. If you are interested in becoming a committee member, contact the School Health & Safety program at 509.324.1560, ext 4.
