Exchanging used syringes for new ones helps lower the risk of HIV and hepatitis B and C transmission.

Spokane Regional Health District Syringe Services provides one-for-one exchange of used syringes for new ones.
Also provided to help lower the risk of HIV and hepatitis B and C transmission:
Outreach workers provide information on overdose prevention, safe injection practices, and also provide referrals to treatment services, health insurance, and access to health care.
Naloxone is also available for those at highest risk for opioid overdose.
