Save the Date for a Lively Discussion on Food and Health in Spokane County, June 7
SPOKANE, Wash. – May 26, 2011 – On Tuesday, June 7, 2011, Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD), in partnership with the Spokane Food Access Coalition (FAC), is inviting community members to join in as SRHD staff release new, insightful data as part of its forthcoming report Food and Health in Spokane County: A Closer Look.
The free event will take place at Unitarian Universalist Church, 4340 W. Fort Wright Dr., Spokane, June 7, 2011 and will cover current access to healthy foods in Spokane, and food insecurity and its impact on residents' health, especially obesity and diabetes.
Here’s what to expect:
- 6:00-6:30 pm Visiting author Jeremy Smith, Growing Things, kicks off the conversation, talking about examples of how people engage in food in his community, Missoula, Montana.
- 6:30-8:00 pm Spokane Regional Health District releases new information about Spokane's food realities "Food and Health in Spokane County: A Closer Look" with community discussion to follow.
