Spokane, Wash. – April 3-9, 2023, Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD) celebrates National Public Health Week, a week where local health jurisdictions across the country recognize the connections created within the community through public health.

By working together, we can strengthen and support the very foundation of our health and our communities. This year SRHD will highlight the national focus on centering and celebrating cultures in health with the theme, “For the Love of Community,” by sharing the unique and joyful ways different cultures focus on health, and how we can learn from each other.

To celebrate National Public Health Week and to also bring attention to the programs and services available to the Spokane community, SRHD will share stories about how our community has come to together to keep our community safe and healthy (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube).

On Wednesday, April 5, at 10 a.m. SRHD’s weekly Facebook Live will feature Public Health Officer, Dr. Francisco Velázquez speaking about National Public Health Week along with community partners sharing how SRHD has collaborated with them in the community.

“Public health is an all-hands-on-deck effort. We rely on diverse partnerships and collaborations to make our communities safe and healthy,” said Spokane County Health Officer Dr. Francisco Velázquez.

On Thursday, April 6, from 2-4 p.m., SRHD’s public health leaders will participate in a public panel, addressing the challenges and priorities facing public health in the Spokane community. Doors open at 2 pm, with the hour-long panel discussion running from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Space is limited, so please RSVP and learn more details here: https://srhd.org/events.

In addition, Spokane community partners are participating with banners and blue lights to light up downtown Spokane all week. The SRHD building will also be lit up in blue.
