Spokane County H1N1 Death Announced
Today the Spokane Regional Health District was notified of the death of a man in his 70s linked to the H1N1 virus. The man who died at a local hospital had underlying medical conditions. The death occurred yesterday.
Currently, we have had eight influenza deaths of Spokane County residents. Seven of those were confirmed H1N1 and one is a suspect case where the initial lab was negative and the patient died on admission.
The Health District continues to urge vaccination as the best way to prevent H1N1 infection. Many area health care providers are now offering the vaccinations and the Health District also has several upcoming public vaccination clinics.
