Public Health Fatality Reviews

Fatality reviews are a prevention-oriented process that helps communities better understand who is dying, why, and what can be done to prevent future, similar deaths. Spokane Regional Health District conducts fatality reviews authorized by state laws to better understand injury and violence in Spokane County and identify action that can be taken to improve health and safety locally. Fatality reviews conducted by SRHD are designed using the Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences (HOPE) framework and include discussion of risk and protective factors to better understand the full context of each decedent's life and where there may be opportunities for intervention.
