SPOKANE, Wash. – This week the Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD) is mailing out invitations to its biennial survey to ask Spokane County’s adult residents about their quality of life. This is an important tool used to inform and guide public health efforts in our community.
The survey is sent to a random sample of 15,000 households in Spokane County, and includes questions about residents’ well-being, lived experiences in their communities, and questions to help learn how social determinants of health - the physical, social and economic conditions that affect people’s quality of life and health – have had an impact. The goal of the survey is to routinely measure and monitor residents’ health and well-being and to identify disparities in quality of life and other issues needing improvement.
Spokane County residents who are selected for the survey will receive a letter in the mail with instructions on how to take the survey online. No names or other identifying information are collected in the survey. Once survey responses have been received and the data has been analyzed, results are shown on the Spokane County Health Insights website.
“This is the 10th anniversary of this survey in Spokane County. Each time we gather information from residents about their experiences living in Spokane County we are better able to identify local strengths and needs,” said Danielle Wrenn, program manager for the Data Center in Disease Prevention & Response at SRHD. “Community partners have been and will continue to utilize these data to enhance efforts that are working and address issues that need more support.”
Funding partners for this year’s survey are Providence, Health Sciences and Services Authority of Spokane County, Innovia Foundation, The ZONE, Premera, Kaiser Permanente, and MultiCare. To learn more about the survey and view results from past surveys visit Spokane County Health Insights.
