Karen Stratton

A life-long resident of Spokane, Karen Stratton graduated from Marycliff High School and received her undergraduate degree from Eastern Washington University. Karen's professional background includes experience in state and local government, higher education and the private sector. She worked as a legislative aide in the Washington State House of Representatives for four legislative sessions. She was employed by Washington State University-Spokane for 10 years and spent four years at the Community Colleges of Spokane Training and Education Coordinating Center. In addition, she worked three years in the private sector spearheading community relations and philanthropic activities to local non-profit agencies.

Karen has worked for the City of Spokane since 2005. She served as an aide to Mayor Jim West and to Mayor Mary Verner. She also worked as the public information coordinator for the Spokane Regional Solid Waste System. More recently, Karen worked in the Office of the City Clerk for the City of Spokane.

Her community involvement includes numerous boards and commissions including Mid-City Concerns, St. Joseph Family Center, Spokane Centennial Trail Board of Directors, Spokane Human Rights Commission, Gonzaga University Task Force on Human Relations, Community Oriented Policing Board of Directors, the Trinity Catholic School Advisory Council and the Spokane Lilac Festival Association.

Karen is married to Chris Wright and they have one son, currently attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. They have lived in the Audubon Park neighborhood for more than 22 years.
