Information and Referral
A wide variety of information about oral health is available. Brochures, booklets, advice on caring for teeth and referrals to local dentists are offered to all Spokane County residents.
Spokane Area Dental Referral List (doc)

ABCD - Access to Baby & Child Dentistry • 324-1478
The ABCD Program matches Medicaid-eligible children, ages 0-6, to a dentist. All you need is your child's medical coupon and your promise that you will follow the dentist's instructions.
Your child will receive:
  • 3 fluoride varnish applications per year
  • 2 dental examinations per year
  • 2 parent education sessions per year
  • Restorative care as needed

Nearly 100 dentists in Spokane County are certified to participate in the ABCD program. Program staff work closely with these dentists, providing case management with ABCD parents, and technical assistance on ABCD program administration.

ABCDE - Access to Baby & Child Dentistry Expanded
• 324-1478
Pediatricians, family physicians and other medical staff provide Medicaid-eligible children, ages 0-19, with:
  • Evaluation of oral health
  • Education about proper dental hygiene
  • Fluoride varnish – up to three applications per year in the medical office
  • Dental referral
ABCDE was launched in 2002 and works with medical offices to provide oral health during well-child check ups. The unique partnership between dentists and physicians is working to reduce the alarming rate of dental disease among children in Spokane County through prevention, rather than intervention.
