Tobacco Prevention & Control

The Health District’s Tobacco Prevention & Control Program works with schools, businesses and community partners to prevent and control tobacco use in Spokane County. The program works with the Washington State Department of Health’s Tobacco Prevention and Control Program, to deliver anti-tobacco activities, raise public awareness about the dangers of tobacco use, and works to create a tobacco-free community. All public places and places of employment in Washington State are required to be SMOKE-FREE. Smoking is also prohibited within 25 feet of all doors, windows that open, and ventilation intakes at these locations.

The Spokane Regional Health District’s role is to ensure that businesses are in compliance with the new law (please see Compliance Checklist for Businesses). Local law enforcement agencies are responsible for ensuring that individuals comply with the new law. Please see below for more information, answers to your questions, and printable signs and forms.
